Self checkout has proven to be a huge failure since there a lot of theft and people find it takes them longer to check out than in a traditional checkout with a real person. AI won't fix this, especially if the item rings up wrong. The AI will be designed to only accept what the system says the price is, not what the price on the shelf is.
