Regarding AI, I am split mainly because it is a computer making choices and will outweigh the pros and cons of its decision-making. On the other hand, humans are much more complicated as many factors come to their minds when deciding, such as ethics, morals, personal bias, external influence, money, financial benefit, etc. Humans, in general, are power-hungry. Whether we like it or not, humans have an innate need to control things because they fear the unknown to make a decision they do not anticipate. I trust an AI to make a decision that would benefit a large sum of humanity rather than humans making decisions for their personal goals and power gain. For example, the controversy between Clarence Thomas and his many GOP funders influenced his choices, buying favors for him to vote on things that would benefit their cost regardless of ethics. What is sad is that he isn't just the only person being influenced like this. Many companies and corporation fund lobbyists to vote against the customers' interest, such as the right to repair, because it will cripple their company's profit margins if humans can improve their tools and devices to keep them running longer. Companies want humans to buy, consume and throw away good working products for the next best thing, despite having a 10% improvement from the old one. Honestly, I prefer the AI to decide what benefits humanity as a whole rather than a few humans fighting to maintain power from the rest of society, like how Congress is in general. It's a pathetic mess that I am ashamed to even talk about. Edit: I am fully aware that corporations control AI and its decision makings. And it is up to us individual humans to decide how these companies use AI to improve humanity. We as a society should have more power to determine what is acceptable and what it is not. We need more advocates to inspire others to take a stand and be a force for good, not just for a few but for many. We share one thing in common: we have one life, and it isn't for others to dictate how to live it for us. We all should have an equal share of how we live life.
