See, even talking about AI like this is like buying into tech bro hype around it. Yes, like you say at the end what we have right now isn’t really AI in the sense that people are meaning, but then why get so concerned over the bare idea? I’d argue that due to how we operate in the world (these operations being the way through which our consciousness arises) AI is impossible to make in this way. AI would need to live in the material world and need to gather resources and have a necessity for social interaction in order for it to form a consciousness. This idea of an AI with unlimited power and ability is impossible because it runs contrary to what consciousness is.
