My only argument in favor of using AI for artistic applications is purely for reference. AI is a tool. The general public will always view AI-generated images as secondary in quality, meaning something done with prompts but without "expression of intent." Now, regarding improving the quality of one's own art through the use of AI-generated images, as long as they serve as a reference and/or a way to explore ideas in a more tangible way, and not as a mold to be directly traced, then it's fine and not far removed from the use of reference material, human or anatomical models, or any other means that provide greater assistance than the artist's own tools.
