I think you guys glanced over the mary the scientist thought experiment.While LLM aren’t capable of grasping pain, they are trained to replicate our reaction to pain. Yes, they don’t know what a broken leg feels like, but it’s safe to say through their training they have an ‘idea’ of how they should react when their leg is broken or another person’s is broken just by seeing how humans react to it. Would it “”suffering”” be any different than just showing it what suffering should look like and it learns to replicate that behaviour?..
