The only good thing I can say about AI art after screwing around with it for a year is that I went from being a photo editor polishing turds into being someone that can draw hands and feet because no matter how good the result is, I have to fix everything. And at this point, I might as well draw the rest of the f-ing owl. People who love Ai art religiously are people who love tech not because they understand or comprehend or even are the prompt gurus they think they are, but rather because they want free stuff. Free labor. Free without paying for it, and the pipe dream of free profit off of their free labor. The same people who ignored the issues with Uber because it was so cheap (because it was at a loss) until they started jacking up prices to profitability. The people who live off Wal-Mart because its cheap while it turns their city around them into a hole. Its not even a class thing, basement dwellers and tech bros all want to be smart and thrifty. The poor use it as they have nothing (and they are the product that generates the real revenue by user count for the companies) and the rich use it because they feel as though it proves their intelligence because they are somehow smart enough to not pay for it. Yes, some ai gens online charge tokens for use, but its still "free" compared to paying an actual artist. I personally compare Ai art bros to drug dealers, as the ones that aren't stock D.A.R.E. villains or what you see on tv are some smooth operator people who think they've found a life hack that works for them and them alone despite being just one of many, are somehow a "master" of their craft. They are just a hard struggling Christian/buddhist trying to work their way to heaven while they sell crack to crackheads and enshittify their neighborhoods. They say they're not harming anybody because theyre just giving people what they want. I'm not saying AI art is drugs, but rather is the best example of peeps feeling no shame pushing a product that absolutely makes the world around them worse and even feels proud about it. "Gotta get that bread, son" and posting on facebook a stack of cash and dime bags of powder. At least I guess drug dealers are better in that they're actually selling a product.
