Comment
(I tried posting this comment earlier but YouTube's automod censored it for some reason, so I changed some "bad" words that might have triggered it. Specifically, I use "unalive" instead of the D word.) I'm not a doomer myself, but I do enjoy listening to doomer podcasts, most especially Doom Debates because I find the quality of discourse so high. Based on my limited exposure to the doomer community, it seems to me that Liron and John are the only doomers with platforms whose actions match their espoused P(doom)s. There are some other doomers with really high P(doom)s, like 99%, but they're not constantly out there with their hair on fire doing everything they can to stop AI like you would expect of someone with such a high P(doom). I see Connor Leahy do interviews sometimes, but "doing interviews sometimes" doesn't seem to be behavior congruent with the belief that we're all going to be unalived soon. Maybe Connor is more involved behind the scenes in trying to influence AI companies and I'm being too hard on him. The exception would be Eliezer Yudkowsky because of his idiopathic fatigue disorder. Even so, I think Eliezer is doing quite a lot given his health, and I believe he'd do way more if he could. If I had a high P(doom) and I REALLY believed myself, my loved ones, everyone I care about, and all of humanity was going to be unalived soon, and I wasn't either starting a platform like a podcast or blog and posting regularly, trying to lobby politicians, protesting, researching AI safety, or giving up and sipping a martini on a beach waiting to be unalived, then I probably would be picking up my pitchfork like John says to physically stop the AI companies. I'm not sure what the point of my rambling comment is except to compliment Liron and John, and to criticize pretty much all of the other doomers with platforms.
