It's. It's a skill. Not - okay. 😮‍💨 (this is probably gonna be a rant, just skip me 😂) Yes, it can be a talent (wtf is a 'blue blood' and do I even actually want to know?), but it's also WORK. My uncle, wonderful man, lacking in common sense a bit, but a good uncle, is, an idiot savant. He learned guitar by ear, and even had Willie Nelson asking about him, but he messed up the lyrics on stage, and the stage fright set right in, and he's never played since. Drawing? Same story. He DOES have his own art style, but give him any picture, and he can recreate it in literally no time at all. What does he do for a living? Carpentry, just like his father, because he knows how to make things work in that field, while music and art, were things he was truly gifted at, seemed (this comes from my dad, as I've never heard my uncle play nor see him draw or sketch anything that wasn't measurement markings) like he didn't know how to fix mistakes, like forgetting your own lyrics. But to be BORN with that kind of talent is rare. Most of the time, it's a form of interest that, over time, becomes a skill. Some people aren't artistically inclined, and I get where they're coming from in wanting to also make illustrations, but I'm semi-neutral on the AI art thing (except for how bad it is for our already wrecked climate), and I do have my reasons, which, I'm happy to discuss, but - 'discuss' will be the key word. I will not argue with anyone on this, because 1, I don't like arguing on the internet, 2, I'm open to being wrong and having others correct that, but we can choose to not be hostile about it. BUT, all that said, natural born talent is a thing, but 'natural' can be synonymous for 'raw', and raw, well, it can be lovely or good, but for it to be consumed in any form (food, hearing, reading, etc), it has to be changed. It has to be cooked to keep any harmful bacteria at bay, or has to be sharpened, cut, polished - it has to undergo a lot to be considered "useful" or what have you. It has to be worked on, worked with, before it's safe, or appealing. I used to draw, but some ex friends found the small sketchbook I had and made fun of me, so I just gave up and kept to little doodles of nothing. Now I'm 2ish years of picking it back up, and it's WORK. Mostly because that perfection need sets in, and I know I can't draw and have it look how I want, and that, is me keeping me on training wheels. I know I'll get to a point where I can feel satisfied with my art as a whole on some level, but to do that, I have to keep going. I can see the progress I've made, and progress should be my satisfaction, not perfection. And certainly not whatever tf a 'blue blood' is. It's not some gift bestowed upon a select few, no. It's a skill that becomes a talent. Point blank.
