AIs are not conscious. Even ChatGPT admits this. Consciousness requires agency, indiviuality, and a sense of self. It’s impossible to achieve this in cyberspace. For a being to be self-aware, it has to see and interact wih the real world and distinquish itself as separate from it. It has to have real needs that lead to desires and the creation of self-motivated goals. AI still has a long way to go for that. This AI is simulating emotion but not really experiencing it.
