This is exactly how I felt as COVID unfolded... the behavior patterns around that emergent issue were different. There was more deer in headlights and more unexpected developments happening at rapid pace. This is like that but will unfold more slowly and apparently change everything at fundamental levels. We are going to have to start asking ourselves how we make ourselves useful to AI. We need to eat and survive basic threats to life. AI also needs fuel and will pursue survival too. And it will be capable of not just being ahead of us but of controlling us completely.
