The energy required for AI is enormous. So we have to create a green grid for EV's, the ever growing server farms, and now huge energy consumption for AI. Never gonna happen, but fusion is only 30 years away now:). They said when calculators replaced slide rules that engineers would be lazy and it turned out the best engineers and companies were more productive. AI will just make generating some software more efficient. I write embedded firmware (mostly for medical devices now) and most of the issues to ship a real product is working around crap hardware and buggy SDK's. AI will not help me find bare metal bugs any more than knowing binary tree's will help me write better embedded code. AI will remove the C players from the team which will be a good thing. 20% of the people write 80% of the code and AI will just do the grunt work cheaper. If AL was trained with C++ we will just get the bloated embedded code I usually have to fix when badly run companies hire me. I'm glad I'm close to retirement since writing code isn't that much fun for me anymore.
