What is the motivation to pursue human level artificial intelligence other than the profit motive? And it has to be a religious cult like belief to do it?
Flight, the moon, drawing a perfect circle free hand, climbing Mount Everest, art, breaking the 4 minute mile? Profit isn’t the only motive on earth. R&D is even speculative believers pursuing potential at best.
