Genetic engineering hobbyists or "biohackers" have been around for over a decade. Equipment is cheap and readily available. If just one smart person who is slightly unbalanced decides to use AI to create a virus or viruses to wipe out humanity (or one or more races) then that's it frankly.
With the technoilogy so readily and cheaply available it's really hard to see how that *won't* happen eventuallly.
