Even if it is a family member have a contract. I think there is a special place in Hell for people who offer volunteer opportunities or uncompensated internships that they profit from. Everyone who takes these unpaid jobs when they can afford to do so, will not have a job in the future, because these unscrupulous people will just get another naive artist to replace them — or AI. If you have free time, it is better to learn and work on your own projects. If it is a collab, make sure you have a contract that has a 50% split at least and outlines each person’s responsibilities. If you don’t know how to write a contract (or agreement) Graphic Artists Guild Handbook has templates — most libraries have this book. I also have a simple agreement template on my website. I learned thus lesson the hard way, too.😅
