Senator, I get where you're coming from, but let me tell you, as someone that works in IT, that AI is an economic bubble that will soon burst. There is no real economic benefit right now in hosting AI. Those companies are wasting money for no reason. The CEOs don't really understand what the customer wants, they don't understand the technology, they don't understand that AI is in diapers. It's unable to replace any jobs effectively at the moment. Many people say that my job (software development) will be among the first to be replaced by AI. While that may be true, I probably won't live to see that happen. My workmates use a lot of AI for everything in their jobs, and I end up having to clean up whatever mess the AI has made, because I don't use it much. What it's REALLY good for is for writing boilerplate (repetitive mandatory) code. As for customer service, office jobs, and so on, I also see those as unlikely to be replaced soon. I already tried making a customer service chatbot with AI and it wasn't great. At the moment, some problems require human intervention. They require the type of thinking that AI cannot do (AI doesn't even think): solving unknown problems. What AI chatbots are useful for, at the moment, is lessening the load on the human agents so they are more likely to be in charge of solving actual problems (not stuff like "I forgot my password"), making stuff like customer service more effective. That's everything it's good for. Solving problems that have already been solved, just faster. For unknown matters, AI is useless. AI cannot think. It regurgitates information learned from its training data. People - do not worry. Replacing most jobs with AI is very far away yet. My job is in jeopardy as well, and I'm not concerned. At the moment, AI can only take care of the repetitive tasks that humans don't want to do. Oh, I'd say watch out for the AI bubble, you may make a profit out of it. I don't know if OpenAI will survive the burst. Not financial advice, of course, that's just my opinion.
