In my opinion, the aspect of AI which motivates career artists is not copyright, or corporations stealing from individuals, or even a cheapening of the original work. AI forces artists to understand that a significant percentage of clients _really don't care at all_ about where the visual work comes from, as long it's useful in the moment. To those clients, artists are already disposable; always have been, always will be. The software is not the problem -- it's just gluing pictures together. To be clear, I think AI owners/programmers must be held accountable for taking artist's work without permission. If copyright law continues to be so relaxed about sources used for AI datasets, it follows that AI owners will shunt profit away from career artists, and discourage hobbyists from pursuing their passion. Why improve when you can ask the robot to do it for you?
