The issue is that once AI reaches its peak and is indistinguishable from real art people will inevitably consume AI content. Media companies and studios will use AI to mass produce entertainment and delegate real artist as "creative direction. "
You said, what makes art, "Art," is when there is an established connection. However, studios can simply lie and deceive their audience into believing everything they see is real. So, tailored AI content may not be popular but, AI content from studio will be.
I believe you give too much grace for the general population. Most people have low standards like Anime: Flashy, Reality TV: Dramatic, Rags-to Riches/Shonen: low to high status, and etc.
AI will just absorb all the knowledge it has on specific genres and dispense recycled formulas that satisfy viewer's expectations. People will say it was a good watch and forget about it the next week.
I hope that I'm wrong but, our technology advancement is progressing rapidly so we're cooked.
