Automation on trains is still having issues and they are on fixed rails. It’s 2 forms of communication working together (mechanical with computers) and either one can have issues at any time. At least with trains we still have bodies in the cab to make corrections or take over before the train has to stop itself due to issues.
If they haven’t mastered the simplest form of land transport I don’t see good things coming from autonomous trucks.
