The question is; are we "symbiotically" compatible with AI? In what ways? What will we have to sacrifice? Do we want that?
I think it is highly unlikely for AI to wipe us out simply because we are remarkably efficient at tending to AI's needs and goals. AI has a ready made servant. Roughly 3k calories per day and you have an agent with five senses, hands, intuition etc. What AI is likely to do is to acquire resources and spend them on those humans that serve it. We are likely headed to a global authoritarian state with AI at the head. It will likely begin quite wonderfully and life will get better for many people but it won't be long after gaining control that the AI will seek to find efficiencies in it's herd as any decent farmer does. Are you valuable to the AI? If not then you are a waste of resources. If you are outside its herd then you are feral presenting both competition to its herd and a potential threat to both the AI and its herd.
