Well if we were to deconstruct "feeling", it's just programming. When you prick your skin with a needle, the your skin is sending electrical signals to the brain that interprets the signal as something not good for its survival (pain). We can bypass this interpretation with drugs. "Feelings" are similar but occur due to thought patterns as reaction to some internal or external stimuli, however, the programming is more complex. We can program AI and robots similarly if we want them to empathise with humans. For anything else, it probably won't be needed. Humans feel all these feelings because we forget lessons in life so one way to retain them is by adding some weight to a learning process. Experiencing pain or pleasure attaches to memories and help retain lessons for the long run.
