Unfortunately this is pretty much unfixable in terms of face recognition AI. It's just physics, black and brown faces reflect less light, blurring the texture and shape of the face. This means higher errors in facial recognition.
If we had only very clear photos with bright lighting, then no problem, but real life is messy and this comes down to physics.
However, using flawed technology is not wanted. It's wrong to use it when it fucks up like that. I'm not trying to address socioeconomic issues here, just explaining why the errors are bigger for POC than whites.
