fun fact: there was actually a scare about the "cheapening of the art" when digital art was first made... however as you all know, nobody really saw it as a problem and really didn't care. so it is now considered real art as well, for obvious reasons.
also if you can't copyright it, it ain't real art {at least to the government} [you can't copyright AI art due to it not being 'significantly creative enough'. just like the monkey with the photo of itself in that PETA legal case].
EDIT: though in the case of nature photography they got them beat... because well... point and click.
