I personally think that generative AI is perfectly fine in a vacuum, but under a capitalist mode of production art is already very undervalued since it is not seen as "economically valuable" and companies trying to replace people with generative AI under this system is expected because it could be much cheaper than human labor on multiple fronts, I don't think stopping generative AI will work either both because of the money to be gained by making such systems and because of the people that genuinely are interested in learning about what makes us human trying to replicate a human artificially. What we need to do is try to change how our systems are set up to support people rather than trying to optimize everything for profits and under such a system I don't think that anyone would have as many qualms with people using generative AI as a tool to learn or use to just make things they think are cool. I completely understand the viewpoint that AI art is bad but just disagree with that assessment in general but under the capitalist mode of production it will definitely cause a lot of issues for people who like the entire long and hard process of art. I personally have a like for understanding things the long and hard way and so even in the rise of generative AI the only use I can think of for such a system would be kind of like a coworker to bounce ideas off of because a machine can potentially have the ability to consume and understand much more information than a single person can in a lifetime. Thus helping me with connections I might not have otherwise made thus helping with creativity although I still currently have issues with the systems we have accessible for easy use in that area.
