Per DA: "DeviantArt lets you declare whether or not external AI models and platforms can train based on your deviations." The opt-out is only for external AI training only. Doesn't stop DA from being able to use it - just adds a noai/noimageai tag to art so third parties can *choose* to not use those ones if they care. For DA, the ToS as already written says DA has right to use all your posted art: "...you grant to DeviantArt a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, re-format, store, **prepare derivative works based on**, and publicly display and perform Your Content." - Asterisks (**) added to point out key part. So, even the swap to auto-opt-out is just a bit of theatre to calm the masses and doesn't actually mean much. --- Edit: That said, I don't think there's much point in exodus away from DA. It really doesn't matter where one uploads their art, the AI generators are still going to use it from wherever. DA, FA, twitter, tumblr, e6, boorus, etc. At least DA has the no-use tagging in place for if legal guidelines ever come around for restricting unauthorized use of art for AI generators.
