What will happen is what always happens. The automation will cause the price of widgets to drop and then people who are still working will buy more widgets and the widget company will have to open new factories. These new factories will hire some people, not as much as before but some and other factories will open that hire people because the automation is driving down the price. So you will have a lot of factories with few workers. The alternative is to tax the companies and everyone will receive a basic living wage. If there is absolutely no jobs left for humans to do then everyone will receive a wage. Only social jobs will never be replaced. Like prostitution and other jobs that a robot would not be able to replace a human with.
