This was the standard "it's depressing to hear Bernie talk, because he's right, but his optimism just hurts when you're a normal person." But then you got to the list of expectations, and... _wow._ What country is it you think you live in? Not that it matters, but particularly in the US, absolutely none of that is going to get past a vote, let alone get implemented before being bogged down in appeals and then shot down by SCotUS. Even if it did, we'd still end up with companies doing exactly the same thing, then either throwing lawyers at the problem or paying minuscule fines (none of which will make their way to the unemployed, by the way) and still coming out on top.
I get that you can't actually do anything about this, and that despair surely isn't helpful. But it's incredibly sad, particularly on this point, to hear that the ideas on the table for mitigating the harm of AI to the workforce are absolutely farcical.
