Honestly, I don't think it is that different to want to copyright a AI generated image than it it to copyright a photograph. For a photo you didn't create the trees, mountains, or animals you just pressed a button. Same with AI. If his image is so worthless then let him copyright it, don't use his, and generate your own. I personally would say if this is a problem then the problem is with the copyright system in general.
