just to put in my own take as an autistic writer and artist: honestly, i've tried generative AI before and it actually feels more frustrating to have to let a computer guess what's in my head rather than just sitting down and putting my ideas on paper. literally the whole point of art is that you can express yourself however you want, and i wont deny that generative AI can be okay for finding new artists for references, but if i'm relying on the AI and hoping it can pick up what i want, it's just another level of frustration. it reminds me of when i was a little kid and i got overstimulated easily by loud areas or high temperatures and i had difficulty telling adults or other kids how i felt- except here, the "other person" is a computer which i can't speak to, so all i can do is continually type words over and over again like some lunatic until i give up and settle with whatever slop the robot generates for me. it might not be the case for all autistic people, but at least for me, just drawing or writing myself lets me have more expressive control and nothing is more frustrating than when i'm not able to express myself. tl;dr, maybe it's different for other disabled artists, but for me, using AI causes too much confusion and frustration for comfort
