The speaker highlights many real and important problems. I don't understand why these are framed as meaning we should 'forget' about existential risks.
It's true that the future is uncertain, but that doesn't mean we should ignore risks. The future exact global temperature is uncertain but we invest in preventing climate change. Our future income is uncertain but we invest into savings to give ourselves safety nets.
Governments, AI labs, and researchers should be investing in tackling ALL of the discussed risks from AI more than they currently are, so that we can reap the rewards with minimal threat and downside.
