The main argument I see for AI as reference is "But what if what I want is too niche and I can't find a real image?"
Babe, if you can't find a real image for reference, the AI can't either. If it generates what you're looking for, it means you didn't look hard enough.
Think about it. AI has to train off of something, so it cannot produce what doesn't already exist.
You know what can produce things that don't already exist? Real-ass soulful and vivid human artwork and expression, baby!
