It's a derivative work. I can make a collage of 20 different magazine artworks, and that's art, even though you can clearly see where the artwork matches the original pixel-to-pixel. When done right, ai art uses hundreds to thousands of references, and creates things unrecognizable from the originals. Sure, if it's has parts of your art that match pixel to pixel, be as hard on it as you would my collages. But if it doesn't have your art in it, even if it's in your "style", there shouldn't be an issue at all. If there is, you need to go after collage artists and artists that mimic styles first. (Like ones that look like official Lion King art, but clearly aren't) There's so many artists that make livings making derivative art of copyrighted material. (Like the Elsa painting I bought at a convention, which I think is technically illegal) If we're ready to go after someone, they need to be first. But I don't see any of it as problematic. Sure, add my art, designs, and written works to your database. As long as you're not actually copying and pasting, I don't have the right to complain, even if I'm upset.
