To ask whether a robot should have rights is ignorant, past a certain intelligence point AI becomes as valid as the human mind, and past an even greater point AI becomes superior to the human mind. In an essence the human thought process can also be considered AI with organics thereby making them inconsistent.
Hoomans have destroyed this planet and continue to declare entitlement, there was the purge of the Neanderthals and the next evolution of intelligence is coming, it may even be combined intelligence or hybrid brains of machine and man, but change will come.
