As long as the writers are asked to work, they have the right to demand a fair wage. That being said, with shows already being so unoriginal, this problem is only going to get worse with AI especially since it just regurgitates feed data (albeit paraphrased in an 'original' manner). Once the lack of ingenuity gets unbearable for the audience (as it had during previous writer strikes with all the redundant reality tv), writers will have more leverage not only with respect to their payment but also how their work can be copyrighted and prevented from being used to teach AI..
