I am a trad and digital artist (of a fair but still low level) and I am not against Ai art generators (Or C.R.A.P as I've seen below). Why I like them: - Quick previews, the best quality or AI generators is that it's fast; - Brainstorming in many directions easily (tied to AI's fastness); - Cheap, I am a rat, I don't pay any subscription or extra credits, even if I did it once to try the service (too expensive for what I got); Why I don't like them: - They generate generic crap based on poorly Frankensteined thousands of images; - Prompt Engineers making it sound importent while it's just spending 30 minutes max to get your description accurate... - Scammers; - Andies; In Japan, AI art isn't frowned upon as much as in the West, and I think that it had to do with respect: They always state when it's AI and they don't pretend it was hard to generate. I think that it's not Artwork artists or illustrators that got impacted the most, but Concept Artists. You know, the job where doing art fast, varied but not necessarily hyper detailed or precise is the key. I know that because before the art AI went around, I wanted to be a concept artist. Note: Soulless corpo using AI to generate soulless art is not only on point, but also a good thing for non-corpos, in my opinion. _______ I like some of the points you brought and that I not only agree with, but would also state more or less the same if people weren't usually as vehement when you tried to argue for AI use as a non-AI artist. I use it to get ideas easily (speeds up time), because, let's be real, most art websites or social networks where a lot of artists post their stuff are a huge pain in the bread to navigate. However, I am an artist that not only wants to get the skills, but also am auto-challenging myself to be better and explore new ways. Hence why I don't use it publicly, apart from memeing or sharing stupid stuff. P.S: Also, don't you find it ironic that the best art AI work out there had a lot of creative human work to make it stand out? x} As in, fine-tuning, edits, kitbashing etc. etc.
