The idea that universal basic income (UBI) will improve quality of life and enable people to pursue all of their passion projects is dependent on one major assumption: people who receive UBI are still employed and are making some kind of salary IN ADDITION to the UBI.
If AI ends up replacing a large swathe of human labor, then that UBI is only going to be enough to pay for basic needs such as food, water, shelter, and basic clothing. People will have no extra money because they will not be employed. Therefore they will essentially be living one UBI check to the next.
The fact that the elites are floating some bogus idea that work will be optional and we can just prance around and spend time pursuing our passion projects is absolutely absurd. They don’t care about us and they certainly don’t care about our quality of life.
Never underestimate these elites and their absolute thirst for money, power, influence, and control.
