No matter how elaborate the code or complex the algorithms are , it is still just code! You might make it mimic life like behavior ( hence the issue here) but you can also not do that! The computer does not itself have feelings or emotions, you can make it act like it, but it will not really care! Now you can also let it run millions of pieces of code and give it the capability to analyze and build on it. This won't make it smarter, it is still just doing what it's coded for! So it's not the systems that are built that has the possible issues, it is the ones that write it's instructions! We have people out there that think and act like they are dogs or other things ! No matter how hard they try though they are still not! Just make sure when they choose to build something that has any dangerous potential that it is equipped with an off switch! Or better yet , don't put them in a place where they can act based on whoever the idiot was that programmed them and gave them wishy washy abilities, it's hard enough to remove all the errors even in well written logical code! And don't let anyone deceive you into thinking they are something they are not!And remember the first word in AI is artificial! Though to be fair it is possible that intelligence is not real thing in some people either, I question mine on a regular basis!
