This video a very big over simplification of AI and is pretty inaccurate. Yes models are statistical, but no that does not mean it is pulling from the average every time, the distribution is heavily biased based on training and specifically RL, which pushes it more to the right for high quality models. Additionally, most AI labs make great efforts to include lots of high quality code within the training data. Finally this is mostly due to recent advancements, but techniques such as reasoning powered but more test time inference have greatly enhanced the code quality. Not to say it will 1 shot outperform excellent human coders, but over time it will near that level of capability
