"... why do you need everything automated?"
Because one of the biggest expenses, in any business, is labor. If a regular truck costs $100k, and an automated one costs $200k, 2 - 3 years of operating that truck pays for itself in salaries / benefits they didn't have to pay. The idea is for the execs to accumulate wealth, without needing to spread it around (to drivers, etc.) and without needing to actually get their hands dirty. Who doesn't want that? 😛
