My policy is "don't hate the Transformer model, hate the Proompter". The Transformer model is neuromorphic, so it's using technology of the time to emulate how we do art, and by god is it doing its best because it can emulate Sakimichan and Artgerm shading technique. It can't stylize well because it's not putting lines and paints down on a canvas, which is a major deficit, but it has a mathematically defined visual library it draws on for features and lighting which it acquired through training data. It is like us, but worse in many ways.
Instead, hate the Proompter. The Proompter is the worst kind of client. One that give shitty prompts and expects "high quality art". And now, one that pretends that they are the artists when in fact a couple of GPUs housing a ton of tensors made the art. In that regard, the good of AI art is that it is now training Proompters to become better clients by forcing them to provide actual, good prompts.
