On the one hand sad to see AI taking jobs (in the past I have been part of Unions that fought for workers)… on the other hand the job of telephone operator went extinct because one bitch was using her position as an operator to divert all the business from one undertaker to her husband’s undertaker business and the other guy designed the entire analog dial system, simply to put her out of a job.
Talking to customer support at companies like AT&T is literally down to a checklist of canned responses and results. The customer service experience is likely to improve for 90% of their customers.
Not that those customers will see any of the cost savings this move will make the company.
