Mankind is famous for not acting until it’s on the brink of something it knew was a future danger. So far we’ve gotten away with it (or managed to kick the can down the road a bit more) to one degree or another. The AI threat is a completely different type of threat. I’m sorry but IMHO I don’t see anything in human nature that indicates that we have the collective wisdom or willpower to do what needs to be done. The fact that we’re in this fateful situation validates my opinion .
