Each molecule of our fluid air or water is a nanometer scale thermal perpetual motion machine.
Our atmosphere and oceans are full of near stagnant thermal energy. Nanometer scale deterministic processes run on artificial mechanisms plausibly can upcycle part of the thermal energy of our extensive worldwide stagnant heat reservoir into an equivalent amount of electrical energy.
Solid mechanical structures can bear the burden of supporting the throughput of a dynamic process with minor deterioration. For example the energy delivered by a pile driver hammer dropping three meters over a service life of twenty years is millions of times more than the energy needed to melt metal then cast cast it into a pile driver hammer.
Maxwell's demon needs light to watch the nanometer scale door so it can decide when to move the door open and when to move the door closed. The light, deciding, and door moving plausibly needs more energy than running a temperature or pressure differences engine from sorted gas molecules would produce.
Marian Smoluchowski in 1912 presented a paper on substituting a freely pivoting nanometer scale one way door for a demon controlled door. Plausibly nanometer scale doors in a high vacuum do not move on their own. Plausibly gas molecules randomly move through the one way door when they encounter it on the openable side of the door and do not move back from the non openable side of the door. The pivoting door is plausibly deterministic so the energy needed to open and close the door comes only from the randomly moving gas molecules themselves.
Hypothetically diodes, by a deterministic process with only solid in solid diffusion and electromigration deterioration limitations, partially rectify the initially random thermal motion of the mobile charge carriers within themselves called Johnson Nyquest thermal electrical noise into small amounts of net DC electrical power.Arrays of aligned diodes in consistent alignment parallel aggregate the current flow from each and every diode into scalable electrical energy.
This technological concept needs to be developed for free and wide commerce from prototypes to useful scale. Many independent teams plausibly can build working devices scaled to the surrounding demand they are familiar with that have little requirement to coordinate with other manufacturers. Everyone will have similar low margin costs and similar low margin prices. Everyone will have highly automated production resulting in robust flexibility, production, and supply. Devices with similar ratings would plausibly be interoperable. There could be no place for corrupted quality.
