The AI industry and the capitalist class is fully invested in pretending Super-intelligences are possible and their whole scam is convincing the world of it, so they can profit trillions until the fad wears off, just like the 3D TV and movies fad a decade ago. AI is just the new hyperloop, the new Tulip bubble. Technically, even if AI gets insanely good at convincing us it's sentient, that's still a very low bar compared to true sentience. We are in the late stage capitalist phase of Fad Finance
