I think what a lot of people confuse about art is the idea that creativity and technical skill are separate things. People will say "I just want AI to handle all the tedious parts so I can get to the fun parts", and I'm not gonna say that there are absolutely no tedious parts to creation ever, but I think that usually, at least when it comes to drawing, what people think of as tedious is still very creatively important. Maybe you think that learning anatomy is boring and tedious, but if you want to draw your own characters, knowing anatomy will not just be a boring technical prerequisite, it'll be part of your creative process. Knowing at least some level of human anatomy will influence the creative decisions you make while coming up with ideas for how your characters should look like. I think that learning things can only ever be a good thing. I don't see the point in using AI just so you can avoid learning something, because everything you learn will influence the creative decisions you make. I don't believe in the "I have really good ideas but I could never make anything because I didn't have the skills, and now with AI I can finally make those ideas real" because ideas don't just come from nothing. Choosing to rely on AI for skills that you lack only means that you're robbing yourself of knowledge that could inspire even better ideas, or ideas on how to improve your already existing ideas. I firmly believe that a tool should never replace knowledge. That's why I also disagree with people who think that using AI is the same as what digital art is compared to traditional. Drawing digitally doesn't allow you the luxury of being able to do things without learning them. Sure, you don't have to learn how to set up a canvas but you still have to learn anatomy, perspective, form, values, colors, and so on, the exact same as if you were working traditionally. I don't think that AI somehow "liberates us to be able to do purely creative work without all the boring parts". I think that by using AI, you're only giving up on even more opportunities to be creative, for the sake of not having to deal with doing something difficult.
