What bothers me is that this tech is being implemented too quickly before it is usable. customer service lines that use AI are infuriating and i can't often get to talking with a real person and it misunderstands me a lot. it replaces their job with something that does their job, but really REALLY badly. it was bad enough when things were outsourced overseas and they literally barely spoke english and i'd have to repeat myself because they didn't understand me. now it just flat out ignores me or doesn't get it. This same issue can be seen across all industries that rely more and more on AI. I am all for AI that improves productivity for existing workers, i'm against AI that replaces existing workers entirely. hell some companies have gotten rid of customer service entirely and replaced it with forums of its users and chat bots. The main thing that retains customers and helps a company grow is when something goes wrong it is fixed quickly, aka customer service. these days it's like companies are doing everything they can to avoid accountability and say they did nothing wrong. Also i love that you brought up video games! entertainment in general is going nuts on the stuff that will effect other industries. Music creation, for instance, has had a ton of AI tools replacing workers going on for at least a decade now, and only recently has it seriously scaled up with LLM models. realistic drum machines, amp sims, plugins that mix or master for you, all out there. I'm an audio engineer and I pretty much graduated into an industry like this. Many studios closed because no one could afford a big major studio to record something they could do at home on their computer. and with drum machines/samples sound "as good" as those major studios why bother paying thousands a song when you can get it for a one time payment of $100. Anyway the freemium model is everything imo. it's why youtube works so well. Also UBI is very much better than our current systems.
