Modern-day writers were already using AI to bang out screenplays even before people started speaking out against it. But now they feel their bottom line will be affected, so they have to speak up.
This might be a hot take, but if you want to avoid having AI take away your writing job, write something original. If you're writing garbage like that Powerpuff Girls sitcom they tried to greenlight, then you deserve to be replaced, because any AI can bang out a screenplay that uncreative.
