The first wave of job losses are hitting desk white collar jobs, but the following waves will include physical labor via AI + robotics. We already have machines that are in operation now doing things not thought possible earlier. There are medical machines performing complex surgery, 3D home printout construction, fully autonomous store vending, etc...
It won't be long before robotics enters plumbing and other manual labor jobs, enabling laymen to do the same jobs as trained professionals but at a much lower cost.
In addition, if people abandon college and flood the trades, you will get over saturated markets which will also lower wages.
The post AI world is going to be open for a select few specialists, not most of the general public. The question is what are the majority of people going to do for income in a post human employment society?
