I think people want to find someone/something to blame. AI is a tool. This is a very similar situation with guns. Do you hold the person committing the crime responsible or the person creating/selling the means to commit the crime. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter. This information has been readily available for a very long time if you know how to use the internet. If you don’t get it from ChatGPT, you can get it from the dozens of state-of-the-art open-source Chinese models that the US government can’t control.
