Hey Paul! Honest question here. What are your thoughts about using A.I. like Chat GPT to role-play through your story? I'm currently doing that with my novel and am being super meticulous about what the A.I. generates and what I have written. I come up with the plot, the characters, and the setting, I draw them, paint them, and place them into the text. And whenever A.I. comes up with something new or random that I happen to like, I make extra sure that it's labeled as content that I don't own. But to get from point A to point B in the story - the actual meat of the process - I use A.I. to act as characters that I've already made to act out a scene, and then I scrutinize the hell out of it and nuke any A.I. "-isms" from orbit to make it seamless. The reason I'm doing this is because I want to help add on to the conversation. I'm not here to pick a side in the conversation or to justify my intent on using it. In fact, I made the decision to use this A.I. to see what would happen as I used it. If I could learn anything from it, and if I could find a way to use it ethically. Because I solidly believe that this isn't going away. I think that the state of entertainment, combined with the corporatization of it, has made that an impossibility. It also helps that, while I do care deeply about my story and characters, if they could be sacrificed to help deepen this conversation to help better understand A.I.'s implementation, how it can be used for us or against us, then I think that's a worthy trade. Plus, this particular story isn't what I would consider "my baby" even though I love working on it, so it's really no big deal if it succeeds or fails.
