Free choice, free food and drinks, a house, clothing... Equality maybe? I hear things about curon cancer. We didn't cure malaria until Bill Gates decided it should happen. Not every person has clean and healthy water to drink, let alone soda. Not in the world but also not in the US... As long as AI isn't making a list of the steps we should take to make this happen asap, it's not doing what's needed.
The current commonly known AIs are not smarter or more creative than the best humans among us.
They have also not been used to emancipate people, reduce obligatory work, or free humanity from unnecessary tasks.
So far, AI has not really done anything meaningful for us.
Yet it has already cost hundreds of billions, if not trillions, of dollars in compute, data centers, and energy.
If that is the balance sheet, AI may be one of the most useless large-scale activities humanity has ever pursued. At least at the moment...
Use all this compute to make sure everyone in the world has free and clean water! NOW!
